The mixed weather in August saw a lower number of 31 visits, 75 Wild Brown trout caught, plus 33 Grayling. 16 stocked Trout were also caught along with several Perch, salmon Parr and a Chub. There have been 247 visits so far this season resulting in 934 wild trout caught, 184 Grayling and a small number of coarse fish. This is showing a very successful season despite the challenging conditions.

Successful flies are reported as: [Dries]: Parachute Adams, Griffiths Gnat, White Gnat, Olive Gypsy Queen, Elk Hair Caddis, Shaggy Olive, CDC Emerger and Royal Wulff and [various nymphs] including PTN, Orange tag nymph, Japanese Style oni-Kebari and Hares Ear patterns.
The changeable weather continues into September, so the key to good fishing will be trying to find a calmer weather slot between fronts. Members living near the Wylye report the recent heavy rains have had very little lasting impact on the water levels, so fingers crossed for a normal wet winter to recharge the aquifers.
