A total of 119 visits visits reported so far this season, with 79 May. Several members have reported good Mayfly hatches but it does seem to be weather dependent. One Member who lives close to the Wylye has noted large numbers of mayflies in his garden one day, for there to be none the next.

26 stocked fish have been reported as caught, a couple were marked with this years Blue tags which were taken by the members as requested. Several were thought to be larger holdover fish at Quidhampton and a few were identified on the Steeple Langford beats where no stocking takes place, these are likely to have come down from syndicates above our beats.

Other species caught include Salmon Parr, Dace, Perch and a pike!

Successful flies are reported as Griffiths gnat, Pheasant Tail Nymphs (PTN), Hares Ear Nymph, Pale Watery, Foam Duns, Adams, CDC Emerger and various Mayfly patterns. A number of members reported using the Dry - dropper technique (aka Klink and Dink) to good success when there was no visible surface action.

Tight lines for June and lets hope the good run of weather continues.

Hi Jon

I can't find the catch return form on the website, so please accept apologies for this message.

I have made 1 visit: on Tuesday 20 May. One offer of Beat D just below the car park bridge, 0 caught, and 0 doing for me in Mill pool. Very little fly life seen.

I then broke the tip off my rod in the car, so end of fishing..... Now repaired.

Many thanks for all your valued input.

Best,

Robin.
