The farm bridge at the top of the beat has been closed by Wilton Estate as unsafe to all traffic. If members wish to exit having fished to the top of this beat, they must either retrace their steps or exit on the true left bank and use the pedestrian gate in the black metal fence.

There is a large tree downed last winter at the top of K - I am concerned that it might head downstream although the EA have categorically stated it does not represent a risk. Please would you inform me if you observe any shifts between your visits - as we cannot maintain a 24/7 vigil.

2nd WFFC project - 24th June 2021 - 8 volunteers opened up fishing access to Barford St Martins beats (refer to membership book) Beat E - 1st reach - d/s scrapyard bridge to first bend and crossing point - wading members can now fish this entire reach without any casting impediments. 2nd reach - reach between next two d/s bends - it is now possible to wade from the ladder near the d/s point and cast under the canopy on left and right banks. 3rd reach - this is already easy casting EXCEPT the pool betwixt R2/3 - this is too deep and obstructed. Beat D - 1st reach - d/s farm bridge to point where river joins woodland - not tackled as already accessible 2nd reach - d/s river in woodland to Mill House hatches - it is now possible to wade and fish this entire reach. 3rd reach - Mill House pond d/s to scrap yard bridge - fishing up there two bank side casting points opened up including the tree downed by winter storms fashioned by one creative member into a platform - and the mill pond is now completely accessible. Enjoy your fishing at Barford beats - more access - thanks to our 8 volunteers - if you wish to volunteer - email me Hon River Manager to join volunteer email group.

Please avoid fishing this beat - it is the venue of the Club's second project this year and it will be packed with cars. volunteers making noise and opening it up better! May I suggest you try the top of beat C at Steeple Langford where we opened the whole reach up - you can fish most of this from the bank now!

I have just stocked 210 fish on our beats at Quidhampton - beat H, G and H. Unfortunately without help from volunteers this time, it was not possible to stock beat I without risking fish welfare. However, this share went into H and I am sure some will drift down as the levels and flows are quite high for this time of year. And both beats G and H have been topped up. Stocked fish can be easily identified as their dorsal fins have been removed. I encourage members to visit these beat in the next months and catch them - before our predators do - and take them.

Thanks to all the members who helped open up the reach from the farm bridge to the wood - you can now fish the entire length from the bank - less one bit in the middle for shade. Please enjoy!

A big thank you to Mike Blackmore and Ed Eley, our two qualified river habitat experts and members, who dealt with the two trees blocking the river felled last winter this weekend - these pictures show their handiwork! So this beat will be stocked on 17th June.

We have just stocked the following beats with 200 fish all 12" - D,E,F,H,K. The greatest concentration is on K and as this beat is very accessible at present and weed in the river makes fishing more difficult later in the season. I hope that as many members as possible are successful now taking them home!

Access to the salmon pool from the true right bank is now owned up with a stile. Refer to page 22 Beat H of your member's booklet and you take the dotted path across the nickol footbridge - hop over the stile and lower yourself into the river for your approach to the pool; you can either retreat the same route or round the bend with caution and wade up beat F or G.
